London Calling: Borough Market

02/02/2014

Seeing other bloggers’ posts on London always manages to do two things to me. The first? It without fail at the first possible chance I get, makes me rush out to said coffee shop/restaurant/burger bar (what is it with burgers and bloggers by the way? We just love a bloody burger) to try out said place. The second being, it always manages to make me feel ever so slightly ashamed of myself that despite having been born and bred in London (South East to be precise, hence the Peggy Mitchell/Bianca Butcher [insert any eastenders actress/anyone that sounds outrageously rough here] accent) I’ve somehow never heard of half of these places the blogging world flocks to, or quite simply have never been arsed bothered to get my arse butt in gear and head over to them. Apologies for the amount of arse in that last sentence 🙂

So I therefore commence the ‘make the most of the city you were born in/don’t take london for granted/poor excuse to go out and eat more burgers and junk food’ mission. All in the hope of celebrating what a beautiful place London is. What an absolute trooper I am.

Starting with Borough Market.

Although I hasten to add that this might be slightly cheating as I’ve visited the market more times than I can remember – defeating the object just a tad then – but hey, I’m in a London hotspot (hotspot? What a knob) and not slobbing about in bed all day watching Homeland. ‘Make the most of London’ – 1… Stay in bed all day like an absolute tramp – 0

I started with cake. Of course you did…

“It’s so hard to chose, I just want them all” #FirstWorldProblems
It was a tough choice, but I narrowed it down to this one. And jesus did I make the right choice – first time for everything – If you’re not a fan of rich chocolate flavours, this isn’t for you. If you are, you need this in your life. Chocolately, creamy, full of flavour – *puts on best Mary Berry impression* – and no soggy bottom. For anyone not in the UK/a fan of the Great British bake off, and therefore have no idea what I’m on about, basically…it was amazing. Life changing
Yep, my new years resolution to cut down on exaggeration is going really, really well.
Next on the agenda was a walk through the market – with many cheese samples along the way – onto Southwark Cathedral. As much as it’s a lovely cathedral and a beautiful building, I came here when I was in secondary school at least 3 times a year, so the novelty has worn off slightly. My boyfriend on the other hand found it prime opportunity to snap away and blend in with the tourists…
Before stopping for some Paella…
…followed by another little wander before returning home.
And that’s about it for my first little lifestyle-esque post. I thought it was about time I stepped out of my product/outfit of the day type posts as personally, being a completely nosey bitch so and so, they actually happen to be my favourite type of post. Besides, I thought it was only fair to give you a break from far too many pictures consisting of the look down to the left and hold your hair pose.
I hope you enjoyed this post, please let me know if you’d like to see more of these kind of posts – “what, of you in your natural haibitat…eating cake? Yeah, can’t wait” – as I really enjoyed making it 🙂
Also, if you have any recommendations for places to visit in London… I would love to hear about them!
As always, thank you so much for reading!
xx

Love your photos and the cheese sample line haha, you can't walk past a cheese sample without sampling, it's a law.

Wahoo! Welcome to the world of lifestyle blogging – love the pictures. The boyfriend has definitely done you justice. Also love that the NY resolution of taking photos while holding hair out of your face/looking down has already worn off 😉

You should definitely head down more Sarah, make a little plan of all the places you want to visit, get a daily travel card, can't go wrong. Plus you'll get some great burgers 🙂
