When it comes to my “every day uniform” – hilarious term because let’s be totally honest, mostly I just chuck on the first thing that I see on my floordrobe falls out of my wardrobe – I am a firm believer in opting for classic, minimalistic, basic bitch, simple pieces. And then jazzing them up* a little with stunning, stand out accessories.
*Jazzing them up? Can we excuse the fact that I went to sleep as a 22 year old and woke up as an 80 year grandma please? Thank you, thank you very much…
So for today’s “oh crap, I woke up late (and definitely not like this) and have 5 minutes to look mildly ‘put together” look, I opted for a classic black jean and oversized (i.e borrowed from my Dad) shirt, paired with two new additions that I am absolutely in love with.
The Radley Portman Flapover bag, and these metallic, chloe-esque boots from Clarks. Radley, Clarks…. [insert heart eye’d and hand clapping emoji’s here].
Starting with The Radley Portman Bag…
Please can we just take a moment to discuss just how beautiful this actually is? A boxy, structured style flapover bag that’s absolutely perfect for every day, but also works really well as a kind of larger clutch bag for the evening. It’s definitely one of those Narnia style bags that look so sleek and streamlined but actually fits 15 nearly identical pink lipsticks and the kitchen sink a hell of a lot of stuff in which I love. I am also all about “pops of colour” (BRB while I vom over that phrase) and absolutely love red as it clashes perfectly against my all monochrome everything wardrobe. Paired with the cream sides and black handle, and the added fact that it’s made from the most gorgeous leather… The Radley Portman flapover bag will no doubt be my go-to handbag for a very long time.
Plus the colour means that it’s perfect for the festive season.
Oh crap, totally went there with the Christmas vibes in October [insert monkey covering eyes emoji here].
Moving on to a pair of boots that similarly to The Radley beauty, were total total love at first sight… The Stanhope ankle boot. I absolutely adore the metallic silver colour and have done ever since I first spotted my girlfriend, my BFF, my bae Olivia Palermo in a pair of silver brogues a while back now. But as much as I love the colour, it’s the style of boot that I utterly adore. They remind me a lot of the Chloe buckle boots in shape but I just love the combination of the buckles, the slightly pointed toe, and that they sit just above the ankle so work perfectly with jeans/trousers, or tights (… and a dress/skirt/shorts of course, otherwise that would just be wierd) 😉 They’re also extremely comfortable so they will definitely be coming on my trips to Edinburgh and New York with me. Chic, unique – I want to make the “I’m a poet and I didn’t know it” gag but I also know it’ll make me want to punch myself – and completely comfortable. Now that is my kinda shoe.

And that brings my little OOTD/”Hey guys, I got this bag that I’ve fallen in love with and shoes that I never want to take off” ramble to an end. I have to say, I loved putting this together as I genuinely adore both pieces so I hope you love them as much as I do.

I love these boots but I would NEVER be able to pull them off! But I need to start venturing out of my boring staples so maybe I'll sneak them onto my Christmas list and then if someone buys them for me, it's fate. Also LOVE THAT BAG. I have one similar in a pale grey and you're so right, it is perfect for a daytime where you don't want 10kg hanging off your shoulder but still need an umbrella or for an evening when you want to sneak a pair of flats out with you (not that I've done that, obviously)!

Totally digging the 'pops of colour' Elle – I find monochrome and all black hard to wear so I'm constantly throwing colour at it! Those metallic shoes are soooo nice though!
How dreamy is that bag?!?! Also can I just say I love your writing style so much girl! I try to write in a 'non-boring' way and really enjoy blogs like yours where your personality/occasional sarcasm shines through!
I'm a huge believer in borrowing clothes from my dad's wardrobe, too, though most of the time I just nick items, wear them, takes pictures in them, and he sees them on the blog the next time and asks if I've been taking a walk up in his closet. Ha.
I'm loving those boots, Elle, they look so cool, and pops of colour, yes! I don't think I can do full on colour, but pops of colour in bags, in accessories — count me in!
