Lady in red - the elle next door

Can we firstly take a moment to appreciate how hilarious/straight to the point that title is? Can we also take a moment to appreciate the fact that I may have picked this dress out purely based on the fact that it makes me feel a little bit like the lady in red emoji [insert lady in red emoji here for good measure].

But jokes aside – although let’s be serious, I’m 100% not joking… – red is not a colour that features heavily in my wardrobe. Burgundy? Yes. Maroon? So much of it. But pillar-box red? This is a rarity, and one that won’t be for much longer because I have fallen hook, line and sinker for this Closet London beauty and have spent far longer than I care to admit trawling ASOS/Missguided/Boohoo/[insert your own choice of online shopping website here] looking for more bright red pieces to add to my boring monochrome wardrobe!

Apart from the stunning, vibrant red colour, the other thing that I adore about this dress is the cut. I am all about the bell sleeves – I mean, you know this by now right? – and the skater style dress as I find it more flattering for my shape, so this dress has quickly become my new go-to for when I want to feel sassy as f**k really good in myself.

… and skater hem that I am totally obsessed with.

And that completes the look. In case you couldn’t tell from my mild fan girl, I really do love this dress. But what I love most is that it finally pushed me out of my comfort zone, and d’you know what? I actually really enjoyed it. Whilst I won’t be popping to Tesco for my grocery’s in bright, pillar box red on a daily basis, I am definitely thinking of ways that I can work it subtly into my wardrobe.

And that’s a start, right?
As always, thanks so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed this post!

I feel like our wardrobes must be the EXACT opposite – I have white to navy in every shade and then pillar box red and a specific shade of green thrown in to mix it up! So I LOVE this colour!! I'm never convinced of the bell sleeves, but I think that's because I spend most of my days rolling up whatever sleeves I am wearing. Colour is divine tough.

Where did you shoot? The raw red bridge is such a great back drop!

Bell sleeves really does make a huge difference! I guess it's the way the arm looks and how the bell softens the frame 🙂

  28. I think you look amazing in red.
I mostly have just black dresses with a few summer dresses in more nude like colours, but I have been thinking about extending my colours to a few wine pieces, moving more out of my comfort zone.

Red is definitely one of the more daring shades out there & I don't think I own one single item of clothing in this kind of red either. Fair play for stepping outside of your comfort zone because it really suits you so well. You look amazing & much better then the red lady emoji haha x
